Microsoft Office 2024 is now on sale, although it's not that exciting.

Microsoft Office 2024 is now available for purchase.

Microsoft has released Office 2024, providing consumers with an alternative option to the Microsoft 365 subscription service. The Home 2024 edition, priced at $149.99, includes essential applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote for a single PC or Mac. On the other hand, the Home & Business 2024 version adds Outlook and allows for commercial use at an additional cost of $100.

Despite the company's efforts to promote cloud-based subscriptions, a trend seen throughout the industry, maintaining perpetual licenses ensures that a user base who prefers to buy and own their software is preserved. However, to install and register this new version, a Microsoft account and internet connection are still required, although most features can be used offline afterward.

With few innovations compared to previous versions, Office 2024 at least syncs with the changes introduced in the subscription product, such as the new 'Fluent' design theme and accessibility improvements. Additionally, the suite is now compatible with the OpenDocument Format (ODF) 1.4 and features like live camera streaming in PowerPoint presentations.

Nonetheless, users who opt for a perpetual license will not have access to some key features of Microsoft 365, such as Teams and included cloud storage.

Despite attempts to attract consumers and businesses to Windows 11, these have largely been ineffective. As of August 2024, the adoption of Windows 10 represented nearly two-thirds (64%), while Windows 11 barely reached around 32% of all Windows installations. Therefore, Office 2024 will be compatible with both operating systems.

Furthermore, companies with five or more users can take advantage of the Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) 2024 to implement the software alongside Microsoft 365, using simple management tools for hybrid environments. The new version of Microsoft Office is now available for download.
