Lenovo introduces two new laptops from the ThinkBook series equipped with Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 and AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processors.

Lenovo has introduced two new models in the ThinkBook series, aiming to consolidate its position in the business laptop market. The new ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 and ThinkBook 16 Gen 7+ offer significant improvements over their predecessors, featuring next-generation hardware designed for demanding users, with an emphasis on different needs, particularly in performance, display, and other key features.
Both devices come with a 16-inch IPS display. However, the ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 supports a 2.5K resolution, while the Gen 7+ offers a higher 3.2K resolution. The devices run on Windows 11 Pro and are equipped with a Kensington Nano Security Slot for added security.
The ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 combines a sleek design with advanced artificial intelligence capabilities thanks to the Snapdragon X Plus chipset, providing modern professionals with robust performance, enhanced productivity, and increased security. This model is powered by the ARM Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 processor, known for its energy efficiency and connectivity, achieving up to 45 TOPS for improved AI performance. Additionally, it features up to 32 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, ensuring fast performance across various tasks, and offers up to 1 TB of PCIe Gen4 x4 SSD storage for quick boot times and ample space for multiple needs. In terms of graphics, it includes a Qualcomm Adreno GPU capable of reaching up to 3.8 TFLOPs.
The ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 presents two display options: a WQXGA 2.5K IPS display with 100% sRGB color coverage and 350 nits brightness, or a more basic WUXGA IPS display with a 60Hz refresh rate and 300 nits brightness. It also features a FHD RGB camera with a privacy shutter, ensuring greater security during video calls, and Dolby Atmos audio technology that provides immersive sound through its stereo speakers.
In terms of battery, the device uses an 84Wh battery and features a Microsoft Pluton security processor, an integrated fingerprint reader in the power button, and a privacy shutter on the camera for enhanced security. In addition to Wi-Fi 7, the ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 includes connectivity options such as two USB-C 10Gbps ports, two USB-A 5Gbps ports, one HDMI 2.1 port, a 4-in-1 SD card reader, and a combined audio jack. This model weighs 1.82 kg and will be available starting October 2024, with a starting price of $749.
The ThinkBook 16 Gen 7+ takes performance even further thanks to the AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processor, which provides significant computational power and efficiency, reaching up to 50 TOPS, outperforming the Snapdragon X Plus of the Gen 7. Like its predecessor, the Gen 7+ features up to 32 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, although at a slightly lower speed of 7500 MHz. One of the main advancements lies in storage, as the Gen 7+ offers two M.2 SSD 2280 slots, allowing for memory expansion up to 4 TB, ideal for handling large files such as videos or engineering projects. In terms of graphics, it includes a more powerful AMD Radeon 880M GPU, surpassing the Qualcomm Adreno of the Gen 7, making it suitable for content creators and demanding users.
Regarding the display, the ThinkBook 16 Gen 7+ features a 16-inch IPS panel with a 3.2K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, DCI-P3 color accuracy, Dolby Vision support, and TÜV Low Blue Light certification, ensuring visual comfort, ideal for video editors and photographers. The camera on the Gen 7+ has been upgraded with FHD RGB technology and TOF (Time of Flight) for improved video quality, while the audio benefits from Dolby Atmos technology. This new device incorporates an 85Wh battery and shares the same security features as the Gen 7. Additionally, it includes an IR camera for facial recognition, adding an extra layer of protection.
In terms of connectivity, the ThinkBook 16 Gen 7+ offers a USB4 port with Thunderbolt 4 certification, a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 with full functions, two USB-A 3.1 ports (one with Always On functionality), an HDMI 2.1 port, an RJ45 Ethernet port, and a hidden USB-A 2.0 port. The Gen 7+ weighs 1.9 kg and will be available in October 2024 in EMEA markets, with a starting price of €999 (approximately $1,110).
