How to disable the WaPo election switch on iOS.

Some iOS users who have installed the Washington Post app may have been surprised to find a black switch on their screens, showing how the electoral vote counts are slowly progressing in the 2024 presidential race. This element, which appears as dynamic island on some devices, can be quite annoying, especially if one is looking for a quick way to get rid of it. Tapping it expands the switch and provides more information about the election race, along with portraits of the candidates, which is not what many wish to see if they only wanted to close that window.

To remove this electoral vote switch on iOS, follow a few simple steps: first, go to "Settings." Then, scroll down and select "Apps" near the bottom. Scroll down until you find the Wash Post app and click on "Live Activities." From there, disable the "Allow Live Activities" option. Once this is done, the switch should disappear.

If at any point you want to reactivate this electoral count, simply re-enable "Allow Live Activities" and then open the Washington Post app. Select the settings icon in the upper right corner, go into "Live Activities Settings," and turn on the switch to allow real-time updates on the presidential election. Additionally, it may be necessary to click on "Start Presidential Activity" located below that option.

It's worth mentioning that Apple News also has a similar switch, which can be turned off in iOS settings in a similar manner. However, I have no information about this switch, so I cannot provide additional details about its function.
