"Have you always wanted a Leica M3? Now there's a special edition that will be the best, although its price is not low."

Leica celebrates 70 years of its M system with the launch of an impressive new M3 rangefinder.

Leica, known for its high-priced special edition cameras, has launched a new creation that celebrates the 70th anniversary of its iconic M system. The Leica M3 Edition 70 is a tribute to the M3 camera that marked the beginning of this series in 1954, and it is presented as a true work of art.

This model of the M3 Edition 70 is not only impressive, but it also comes with a price that reflects its exclusivity: it will sell for £19,000, approximately $25,000 or AU$37,000. However, the opportunity to acquire it is limited, as Leica has decided to produce only 250 units of this platinum-dipped special edition, each with a unique number engraved on the camera's flash shoe.

In addition to the camera, the package includes a Leica APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH lens, a Leicavit M rapid-winder, and an elegant film container, which is suggested to be the most attractive on the market and comes with a roll of film inside. It should be noted that the Leicavit M will also be available separately in three different versions, priced at £900, around $1,200, or AU$1,750. However, the film container does not appear to be available independently.

The Leica M3 Edition 70 will be available in 2025 at selected Leica stores, although a specific start date for sales has yet to be announced. For those who wish to own a piece of Leica's history without spending so much, the company will also publish a book titled "Leica M," which covers the history of the M system in 250 pages, featuring iconic photographs, priced at £45, approximately $60, or AU$90, available starting November 5 from online retailers and authorized distributors.
