Google Messages will receive significant improvements in group chats, including a highly anticipated new pause feature.

You will soon be able to mute messages for a period of up to 24 hours.

Google is working on new features to enhance its Google Messages app, focusing on providing a more personalized and user-friendly experience. Among the latest additions is a "snooze" feature that will allow users to silence message notifications for longer periods, surpassing the previous limitations of the app.

According to information gathered from a detailed analysis, this new feature will enable users to choose options to mute notifications for one hour, eight hours, or 24 hours, in addition to a "always" option, which will require manual deactivation when the user is ready to receive alerts again. While it is still unclear if it will be possible to mute individual messages, notifications are likely to continue coming in if a user is mentioned in a chat.

This addition is particularly relevant considering that Google removed its text reminder feature at the end of 2023, which allowed users to set alerts for specific dates and times. Although the reminder feature was not exactly a "snooze," it was used in a similar way. The new option offers users more flexibility in managing their messages.

In addition to the "snooze" feature, there have been further tests suggesting the implementation of links to join group chats, similar to the options available in other messaging apps like WhatsApp. This will allow users to generate and share links that facilitate entry into chat groups through scanning QR codes or sending the direct link. The links will have a validity of 30 days, and there are options that allow them to be set for one-time use or multiple accesses.

Although there is still time before these functionalities are fully implemented, they are expected to be significant improvements for Google Messages, providing users with new tools to manage their daily communications more efficiently.
