Google introduces scam notifications during calls on Pixel watches.
You can try it on the Pixel Watch 2 or 3.
Currently, many people feel that spam calls are on the rise, which can be frustrating. Sometimes, users receive an alert before answering the call, while at other times they need to be in the conversation to realize it’s a scam attempt. To address this problem, Google has implemented a new scam detection feature during calls on the Pixel Watch.
This feature, driven by artificial intelligence, emits a loud beep at the start of the call and again every few minutes during the conversation. If a high probability of the call being a scam is detected, the watch will send a notification, along with a beep and a vibration. Users can dismiss the notification from the watch if they know the call is legitimate. To activate this feature, scam detection must be enabled in the device settings.
It’s important to note that scam detection during calls only works with the Pixel Watch 2 or 3, and it also requires a Bluetooth connection to a Pixel 9 or newer phone. Currently, this feature is only available in the United States and for calls in English.
Google introduced this functionality in beta for certain phones last November. It is now available for Pixel 9 and later devices, and the new capability allows users to see notifications directly from their watch without having to pull out their phone.
