The Google Pixel Watch now offers scam protection right on your wrist.

Owners of the Google Pixel Watch 2 and Watch 3 can now benefit from increased protection against annoying scam calls.

Google has added a new scam detection feature to the Pixel Watch 2 and 3, enhancing user security without the need to take out their phones. This tool listens to calls and uses artificial intelligence to identify patterns in conversations that are typical of scammers. If the detection indicates something suspicious, the watch will send a notification accompanied by sound and vibration.

Initially, this feature was only available on Pixel phones, but now users of the Pixel Watch 2 and 3 can also benefit from it, allowing them to answer calls more safely. However, the effectiveness of this system is not perfect, as scammer methods are constantly evolving, though it does provide additional help.

It is important to mention that this option is not available to all users. Only those who have a Pixel 9 or a more recent model, and who are paired with a Pixel Watch 2 or 3 via Bluetooth, will be able to use scam detection. Additionally, this functionality is currently only available in the United States and for conversations in English. To activate it, users need to access their phone settings and look for the respective section. Once enabled, the user will hear a beep at the beginning of the call and at parts of the dialogue.

While this novelty might not be relevant for everyone, it is practical for avoiding taking out the phone when there are doubts about an unknown number. Regardless of the existence of this feature, it is always essential to remain alert, as scams are constantly emerging.
