Goodbye to Fat: Philips Introduces a Self-Cleaning Air Fryer to Save You from Scrubbing.

The new fryer self-cleans with steam once you have finished cooking.

Philips has launched its new 5000 Series Dual Basket Air Fryer and Steamer, which is now available for purchase. This innovative appliance features a self-cleaning mode designed to remove tough grease that builds up with use, making it ideal for those who enjoy fries and chicken wings. The fryer allows for the use of two different cooking methods simultaneously, making it easier to prepare balanced meals.

During our testing, we found that while many fryers perform well, keeping them clean can be challenging. Although some parts, such as baskets or racks, are dishwasher safe (it's always advisable to check the instruction manual first), it's common for the rest of the appliance to get dirty easily. Additionally, using abrasive cleaners can damage the device. This is not the case with the 5000 Series, which features an integrated steam generator that removes grease from the large basket and around the heating tube, areas that are typically difficult to clean thoroughly.

This model combines the functions of an air fryer and a steamer, which is uncommon in the market since most appliances combine air fryers with microwaves or toasters. The new Philips fryer includes a three-liter basket and a six-liter basket, which can use different cooking methods and be synchronized to finish at the same time. This allows, for example, for steaming green beans and carrots while air frying chicken wings, preventing any ingredient from being overcooked.

The Philips 5000 Series Dual Basket Air Fryer and Steamer is currently available at John Lewis for £249.99 or for AU$499 at JB Hi-Fi (approximately $300).
