Fortnite is closing its current chapter with a live event that will feature a concert with music from the late rapper Juice WRLD, as well as performances by Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Ice Spice. This experience, titled Remix: The Finale, will begin at 2 PM ET, although players are advised to log in early to ensure they don't miss anything. The tribute to Juice WRLD in the game started earlier this month with the introduction of a skin of the rapper and other related items.
Juice WRLD, whose real name was Jarad Higgins, passed away in 2019 at the age of 21. While the idea of using a celebrity's digital likeness after their death often stirs controversy, in this case, it seems to make sense, as he was a huge fan of Fortnite. His mother, Carmela Wallace, commented in a statement released by Epic that “Jarad always enjoyed playing Fortnite; it was much more than entertainment for him, it was a way to connect with others. From a young age, video games were part of how he related to friends and family, and being in Fortnite is an incredible tribute to that connection.”
Since his passing, the rapper's estate has released three posthumous albums, and during the event, a new song titled “Empty Out Your Pockets” will be presented. Wallace expressed that “I know he would be thrilled to see how his love for video games continues to bring people together in different spaces, just like his music.” Additionally, the event will also feature a new single from Snoop Dogg titled “Another Part of Me,” which includes a collaboration with Sting. If you can’t attend the live event, Epic has mentioned that they plan to hold a replay later in the day, as long as there are no technical issues.
