Five Excellent Free Movies with Over 87% on Rotten Tomatoes to Watch on Tubi, Amazon Freevee, and Other Platforms This Week (October 28).

And yes, that includes John Carpenter's Halloween.

There are numerous options to enjoy on the best free streaming platforms. Despite the common belief that the selection of content on these services is not as extensive as those that require a monthly payment, it's surprising how high the quality of the available films is. Each week presents a compilation of the best free movies.

Last week’s selection included standout works like Frank Darabont's The Shining, the iconic psychological comedy The Truman Show, and one of the best horror films, The Babadook. This time, the variety spans from animation to thrillers. Below are five of the best movies available to watch for free on platforms like Tubi, Pluto TV, and Amazon Freevee during October.

The Invitation (Amazon Freevee)
This 2015 film, directed by Karyn Kusama, features Logan Marshall-Green in the lead role. The plot revolves around a man attending a dinner with his new partner, which turns out to be a reunion with his ex-wife. As the night progresses, the atmosphere becomes unsettling, and the attendees start to question whether they should have declined the invitation and stayed home.

It Follows (Tubi)
Directed by David Robert Mitchell, this horror film, highlighted by its impressive 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, is a must-see for genre fans. Instead of a classic villain, the fear comes from an entity that can only be seen by its victims and manifests in the form of people they know. Its theme also introduces a disturbing concept: it spreads sexually.

Cabaret (Tubi)
This 1972 classic, directed by Bob Fosse, is one of Liza Minnelli's most recognized roles, for which she won the Oscar for Best Actress. The story addresses two tragic romances while exploring the atmosphere of personal freedom during the rise of Nazism in Germany, all set in the vibrant and dangerous Kit Kat Klub of Berlin.

Halloween (XumoPlay)
The 1978 film, directed by John Carpenter, is considered one of the best in the slasher genre. It presents the terrifying story of Michael Myers and offers one of the best opening sequences in horror cinema. It’s a perfect choice to revisit or discover on Halloween, as it's available for free on Pluto TV.

Buried (Plex)
This thriller directed by Rodrigo Cortés features Ryan Reynolds in a role that may seem unappealing at first glance, being trapped in a coffin for 95 minutes. However, the film manages to maintain constant tension and showcases a moving performance by Reynolds, highlighting his talent beyond comedy.
