Elon Musk confirms a 'massive cyberattack' as the old Twitter site experiences its fourth outage of the day.

X is having a bad day that seems to be getting worse.

Users of platform X, formerly known as Twitter, have experienced several access issues on a challenging Monday. Since the morning, three interruptions to the site's functionality have been reported, causing frustration among those wanting to access their favorite content.

The first series of outages occurred around 10 a.m. ET, when both users in the United States and the United Kingdom found themselves unable to use the app or the website. Although that issue was quickly resolved, the site experienced two more outages, with the last incident occurring around 2 p.m.

Elon Musk provided his take on the situation, stating that "there is (and has been) a massive cyber attack against X," which, according to him, was carried out "with significant resources." This could explain the ongoing issues that have already lasted over eight hours.

Throughout the day, the X app and its website have faced multiple crashes. The last problem began around 10:50 a.m. ET. Although many users reported that the service had returned to normal, Musk pointed out that the situation was still not completely resolved.

As the day progressed, complaints recorded on monitoring platforms began to decrease. By 3:33 p.m. ET, just over 2,000 incidents were reported. While some users on the East Coast were still experiencing difficulties, the situation seemed to improve over time.

Musk also suggested that the attack was not trivial, indicating it was likely that a large and coordinated group was involved. This type of attack, known as DDoS (distributed denial of service), is often used to overwhelm servers, which seems to align with the issues X has faced.

In the meantime, the number of reports about outages began to decrease significantly, generating hope among users that the service might have found stability, although past instances have predicted larger crashes. Meanwhile, other users explored alternatives like Bluesky, which has seen a rise in popularity during X's troubles.

For now, the future of the platform's normal operation remains uncertain, and users are staying alert to find out when they will be able to access their content without issues.
