Donald Trump seems to have launched a meme coin.
The statement seems authentic, although there are those who suspect it could be a hack.
Donald Trump has introduced a new meme coin, according to posts on his X and Truth Social accounts. The messages were made public just a few days before Trump’s inauguration, which initially raised suspicions among many, who suspected that his accounts might have been hacked.
Skeptics pointed out, according to recent information, several warning signs, such as the millions of dollars funding the project coming from Binance and Gate, which only serve clients abroad. The coin's website attributes the project to the same group behind Trump's NFTs, and sources close to the former president's family confirmed the legitimacy of the announcements. As of this morning, both posts are still available.
The announcement of the meme coin on Trump’s official X account is not surprising, considering his history with multiple NFT collections and his launch of a cryptocurrency platform last year. Trump has integrated cryptocurrency into his new agenda and has formed a technology policy team focused on cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence, led by David Sacks, known as the "czar of cryptocurrency." Additionally, it is reported that Trump plans to issue an executive order designating cryptocurrency as a "national imperative or priority" following his inauguration next week.
