Accounts that track celebrity jets disappear from Threads and Instagram.

It's a bad week for the creator of @ElonJet.

Jack Sweeney, known for managing the popular @ElonJet, has reported that a total of 38 accounts tracking private jets have been suspended on Threads and Instagram. These profiles were aimed at tracking flights of public figures, including personalities like Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Kim Kardashian, and former President Donald Trump. Sweeney expressed on Threads that this situation feels familiar to him, as he experienced something similar with his accounts on Twitter.

The accounts, which were based on publicly available data to show the flight paths of private jets, were deactivated without prior notice. When users tried to access them, they encountered a message stating that "the link you followed may be broken or the page may have been removed." According to Sweeney, the accounts now appear "turned off" with no options to interact or receive additional information.

Nevertheless, a spokesperson for Meta, who preferred to remain anonymous, commented that the accounts were disabled to protect the privacy and safety of individuals, following a recommendation from the company's independent Oversight Board. This action also occurs in the context of the deactivation of an account tracking Taylor Swift's private jet after the singer threatened legal action against Sweeney, accusing him of harassment.

Sweeney has pointed out that the current situation reminds him of December 15, 2022, when his original @ElonJet account on Twitter was permanently suspended.
