YouTube Shorts will incorporate a tool to add AI-generated videos to your posts.

Integrating artificial intelligence has become easier, for better or for worse.

YouTube has announced a new feature that will allow Shorts users to integrate artificial intelligence-generated videos more easily. This option will be part of the Dream Screen for Shorts, which already allowed users to add AI-generated backgrounds. With the integration of Veo 2, Google DeepMind’s new video mode, creators will be able to generate video clips from simple text.

In YouTube's blog post, it is mentioned that the tool will allow users to "need a specific scene but not have the right footage" or "turn their imagination into reality to tell unique stories." The platform claims that Veo 2 has a better understanding of real-world physics and human movement, promising more accurate and detailed results. Additionally, users will be able to customize their videos to fit specific styles, lenses, or cinematic effects.

The announcement includes an example of how the tool could be used, featuring a dog growing to a monstrous size. While intriguing, it also raises concerns about the ease with which AI-generated videos can be created. YouTube has noted that these creations will carry SynthID watermarks and clear labels to prevent confusion among viewers.

For now, this new feature is available to users in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
