The new Helldivers expansion is now available and it has arrived with a limited edition controller featuring the signature black and yellow tones.
Last night during the Game Awards, the arrival of a feared new faction in the Helldivers II universe was confirmed: the Illuminate. Although Super Earth defenders wouldn't admit to fear, they are likely to opt for the new limited-edition controller for the game and return to the battlefield. This controller will be available for preorder starting at 10 a.m. ET on December 20, with a starting price of $85. Its official release is scheduled for February 6, 2025.
If you missed the announcement yesterday, don’t worry; it was posted on a Sony blog and in a YouTube trailer, making it harder to notice among all the worldwide presentations. It’s worth noting that this controller has already become a highly sought-after item, so getting one, let alone completing the purchase, will be a real challenge. It’s likely to be a target for resellers, and there is no clear information on which retailers will carry it. If you’re determined to get one, make sure to keep an eye on stores such as:

While all these retailers have offered limited-edition controllers in the past, those in Europe will be able to preorder exclusively through PlayStation Direct.

The combat is also undergoing significant changes, taking the Helldivers into confrontations in streets and narrow alleys rather than in vast open fields. This new experience is shaping up to be more intense than what has been seen so far. The update is already available, so there’s no need to wait to dive into the action.
