WhatsApp will not be available on certain phones starting November 1.
There are numerous models of mobile phones, both Android and Apple.
WhatsApp is about to stop functioning on certain models of Android and iOS devices. This measure will come into effect on November 1, 2024, as a result of the necessity to meet minimum update requirements in operating systems. Phones that do not update to the required versions will be excluded from using the messaging app.
For Android devices, the app requires at least version 5.0, released in 2014. Therefore, phones that were introduced before this date may face issues running WhatsApp or may not be compatible at all. The affected models include:
- Samsung: Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy S4 Mini
- HTC: One X, One X+, Desire 500, Desire 601
- LG: Optimus G, Nexus 4, G2 Mini, L90
- Sony: Xperia Z, Xperia SP, Xperia T, Xperia V
- Motorola: Moto G (1st generation), Droid Razr HD, Moto E (1st generation)
- Nokia: Lumia 920, Lumia 1020
- Huawei: Ascend P6, Ascend Y300
- ZTE: ZMAX, Grand X
As for Apple devices, WhatsApp requires a minimum of iOS 12.0, which was released in 2018. Due to this requirement, iPhones that cannot be updated to this version will also lose access to the app. The affected models include:
- iPhone 5
- iPhone 5c
These compatibility changes will affect a significant number of older phones, forcing many users to consider upgrading their devices if they wish to continue using the service.
