What to Expect at MWC 2025 from Samsung, TCL, and Others.
The most important event in the mobile industry is about to begin.
In less than two weeks, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) will kick off in Barcelona, one of the most important events in the mobile industry and a reminder that phones can still be exciting. After taking a hard hit during the COVID pandemic, the MWC had to cancel its 2020 edition, but it has been gradually returning to its former glory.
This annual event, which typically gathers over a hundred thousand attendees, takes place at the impressive Fira Gran Via venue in the city. During the MWC, mobile phone manufacturers and consumer electronics companies showcase their new products. This year, the congress is scheduled for March 3 to 6, although some announcements are usually made a couple of days earlier, on March 1 and 2.
In recent years, Xiaomi has stood out at the MWC by launching its flagship devices. This year, the company is expected to make an announcement on Sunday, likely presenting the Xiaomi 15, which has already been launched in China, and there are even rumors of a more powerful variant, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, known for its impressive camera features.
Meanwhile, Nothing has also sent out invitations for its new model, the Phone (3a), a more affordable version that promises to continue surprising with its partially transparent design and good value for money. However, there is uncertainty about whether they will present any additional models at the event.
Samsung will also participate, although its presence does not seem to be as prominent this year. Despite the lack of previous announcements, the company usually presents something new, and this time it is expected to be the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, a slim flagship phone that was teased in January.
Honor will make a presentation on March 2, where it is expected to showcase new devices. Last year, it introduced the Magic6 Pro and the MagicBook Pro 16, and for this event, there is talk of a project referred to as Honor Alpha Plan, related to artificial intelligence.
TCL, known for its innovative tablets and phones, will return with new versions of its NXTPAPER devices, which combine the look of an e-reader with smartphone capabilities.
HMD Global, which manages the Nokia brand, will also be present to continue stirring up nostalgia with a new Nokia model and some affordable phones. Their event will take place on March 2.
Lenovo is famous for its innovative laptops. This year, it is rumored to launch the ThinkBook Flip AI, a laptop with a huge foldable screen, while Motorola, also under its wing, promises to surprise with new flexible devices.
In addition to smartphones, the MWC will feature a wide range of technological innovations including robots, cars, and announcements related to artificial intelligence, where it is expected that each company will mention this theme several times. The previous edition showcased exciting gadgets like Xiaomi's CyberDog 2 and a flexible phone from Motorola, and it is anticipated that this year will also bring surprising presentations.
