What is the content of the agreement between Amazon and Mexican football?
Amazon, the major technology company, has formalized a strategic agreement with the Mexican Football Federation. What is the objective of this collaboration?
On Tuesday, March 11, Amazon announced a strategic partnership with the Mexican Football Federation, aimed at strengthening relationships in various aspects of the sport. This alliance includes the National Team as well as the BBVA MX and BBVA MX women’s leagues, and will take effect starting in 2025.
Mikel Arriola, the internal commissioner of the FMF, expressed his enthusiasm for the new partner: “Today we have an ally that I am sure will allow us to celebrate many years together. We will generate innovation that will translate into a better, more international product. It is an honor for Mexican football to showcase to other leagues and teams that it has a global company like Amazon as a partner. The true beneficiaries of this will always be the fans of Mexican football.”
The agreement means that Amazon users will have access to a section in its digital store where they can purchase official products of the National Team of Mexico. In this section, home and away jerseys for both the women's and men's teams will be available, along with merchandise from previous seasons, including jerseys, balls, jackets, caps, thermoses, and more. In the coming weeks, products related to the BBVA MX league, both women's and men's, will also be launched.
Additionally, Amazon and the Mexican Football Federation are collaborating to implement innovative technologies through Amazon Web Services (AWS). This will enable the activation of real-time data analytics that will enhance the use of statistics with artificial intelligence. Furthermore, the remote broadcasting of matches will be improved through AWS services, enriching the viewer experience and optimizing the Fan ID system.
Fans will also be able to enjoy some live matches of the national team through Amazon Prime Video, as well as matches featuring the Chivas from Guadalajara. In the future, there is potential for an agreement for the complete broadcasting of Liga MX. On another note, Amazon's logo will appear on training uniforms, advertising boards during matches, and in the official communication of the National Team. The company's presence will also extend to the matches of the 2026 World Cup.
