Three Underrated Movies on Amazon Prime Video You Must Watch This Weekend (February 14-16)
These underrated movies on Prime Video will give you a touch of love this holiday weekend.
February, particularly mid-month, tends to be somewhat gloomy, at least in terms of the weather. However, Valentine's Day weekend gives us the opportunity to celebrate with romantic movies. For those interested in what to watch during this weekend, there is a selection of romance-related films available on Prime Video. Whether you're looking for something more conventional or a slightly more original option, here are three movies you shouldn’t miss:
Along Came Polly (2004)
This film tells the story of a somewhat boring man who falls in love with a wild woman, played by Jennifer Aniston. Despite its typical premise, the chemistry between Aniston and Ben Stiller keeps the audience engaged. A standout element is Philip Seymour Hoffman's performance as a former child prodigy, now living a life full of embarrassments and little talent in basketball. While it is a conventional movie, it manages to hit the marks it sets out to achieve, showcasing the great talent of both actors at their best.
Past Lives (2023)
Considered one of the best films of the year, it follows the story of two Korean children who maintain a bond over several decades. After some time apart, they reunite in New York when she is already married. The narrative explores the different paths people's lives can take and the feeling of loss for opportunities not taken. With an outstanding performance by Greta Lee, it is a beautiful and moving tale that invites reflection.
Carol (2015)
Possibly, this film stands out as one of the best performances in Cate Blanchett's extraordinary career. Set in 1950s New York, it narrates the relationship between a young woman and an older, married woman. While the movie addresses the social perception of same-sex relationships during that era, it focuses on the deep connection that develops between them. Rooney Mara delivers a strong performance, but Blanchett shines as a figure who, despite having an apparently perfect life, feels deeply unhappy.
These films are available for enjoyment on Amazon Prime Video.
