The Toshiba Wireless Portable Turntable Will Be the Sound Burger of 2025 – Though It's Best to Avoid Taking It to Beach Parties.

Toshiba has unveiled a new portable turntable designed for vinyl enthusiasts. Similar to the iconic Audio-Technica Sound Burger, this model, named the Aurex AX-RP10, offers a battery life of 10 hours, allowing for enjoyment of analog music outdoors. Although the company is not known for producing the best turntables, this device aims to attract those who want to take their vinyl collection beyond their usual home audio setup.

The price has not yet been revealed, but it is expected to be announced soon. The design of the Aurex AX-RP10 includes a cueing lever that facilitates handling the cartridge and an auto-stop function to halt playback at the end of the record. With dimensions of 160 mm x 300 mm, the turntable, while not as compact as other music players, can be easily transported in its carrying bag.

However, the design of the Aurex AX-RP10 has raised some concerns, as it closely resembles the Audio Technica Sound Burger, which had historical issues that could damage records over time. Although this is not necessarily the fault of the Sound Burger, fans remain concerned about the durability and audio quality that this new model may offer.

The turntable does not feature built-in speakers, requiring the use of a mini stereo audio connector. However, its Bluetooth connectivity allows pairing with Bluetooth speakers and headphones, which introduces a degree of sound compression. Thus, while the Aurex AX-RP10 might fit well in a minimalist audio setup or a decorative space, its portability raises questions about its use in environments like the beach, where the risk of damaging valuable vinyl records would be high.
