The new Qualcomm chip for the mid-range represents a significant advancement for video games.

Qualcomm has launched the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset, which offers gaming performance that surpasses its predecessor by 30%.

Qualcomm has unveiled its new Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor, which promises to be a significant advancement for mid-range phones. This chip focuses on improving performance, artificial intelligence, and connectivity in more affordable devices.

In terms of performance, the Qualcomm Kryo CPU offers a 10% increase compared to its predecessor, while the Adreno GPU enhances graphics performance by 30%. Although these percentages may seem modest, any performance optimization is valuable to users. However, the most innovative aspect is the notable improvement in gaming experience. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is designed to consume less battery, allowing users to play demanding titles like Genshin Impact without quickly draining the device's charge. Additionally, the new Game Super Resolution feature provides graphics scaled up to 4K, and the Adreno Frame Motion Engine can increase frame rates without affecting battery life, thereby enhancing the experience in games like Infinity Nikki.

Another highlight of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is its compatibility with generative artificial intelligence. This is the first chip in Qualcomm's 6 series to support this technology, enabling any device that integrates it to perform tasks such as text generation and content summarization. From a technical perspective, it has a clock speed of 2.4GHz and supports download speeds of up to 2.9Gbps, in addition to accommodating a 140MHz bandwidth and a 200MHz mmWave. However, the true test of its practical performance will be seen after its launch. Qualcomm announced that several brands, such as realme, Oppo, and Honor, will release phones equipped with this processor in the coming months, which could bring significant updates to the more affordable phone market.

On another note, Qualcomm is also launching a new entry-level chip for smartphones called Snapdragon 4s Gen 2, which will appear in phones towards the end of 2024. This processor will be a slightly more basic version of the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 and is expected to offer improvements in connectivity and camera capabilities in budget Android devices. It promises download speeds of up to 1 Gbps for 5G, which are considerably faster than what 4G silicon provides in the same price range.

Additionally, Samsung has revealed the Olympic Edition of its Galaxy Z Flip 6, a device specially designed for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This edition is not only the first to include Galaxy AI, which aims to enhance the experience of athletes during the Games, but it is also the first to be delivered to athletes before its commercial launch.

In the realm of screen protection, Corning has introduced Gorilla Glass 7i, the seventh generation of its well-known durable glass. This new product is designed to meet the needs of mid-range smartphones in 2024, allowing implementation in OLED screens with 10 to 12 bits and wider devices.
