A native Apple TV app for Android is now available on Google Play.

After being launched five years ago, a full Apple TV app is now available for Android devices.

After five years since the launch of the Apple TV app, a version for Android devices has finally been developed, specifically designed to integrate natively with this operating system. Users of Android 10 or later will be able to download it from the Google Play Store and enjoy the same Apple TV+ functionality that is available on Apple devices. This will allow users to subscribe to Apple TV+ and access a variety of content, including shows like Severance, Silo, Killers of the Flower Moon, and CODA.

The price of the service will be the same on Android devices as in the Apple ecosystem. Additionally, the app will offer a seamless cross-platform interactive experience thanks to features like "Continue Watching," which allows users to keep track of shows and movies and pick up right where they left off, regardless of the device being used. The user's watchlist will remain updated across all devices, and since purchases are linked to the Apple account, all acquired content will be available on any device with the new app. However, one aspect that will not be available at launch is the option to stream Apple TV content from Android devices.

During a demonstration, the interface of the new app on Android phones and tablets showed a striking similarity to the experience offered on Apple devices. On phones, there will be specific tabs at the bottom of the screen for Apple TV+, MLS, Downloads, and Search. As users scroll through the app, they will find sections dedicated to "Continue Watching," the most popular shows and movies, as well as a section to highlight Apple original productions for new Android subscribers. On tablets, menus will adapt based on screen size, accessible through a menu in the upper left corner.

Within the app, the MLS Season Pass will also be featured, which will include a highlighted match of the week under the label "Sunday Night Soccer" and pages for each upcoming match with details and links to the football club pages. Additionally, users will be able to mark favorite teams to have them appear in a special section dedicated to fans.

On the other hand, the existing version of the app on TVs with Google OS, such as the TCL QM8, Sony Bravia 9, and Hisense U8N, will integrate with the Google Play billing system, although it will not be a new app. According to user ratings and feedback on Google Play, this new app will be a very welcome addition, considering that the previous one reached over 50 million downloads but had a very low rating of 1.6 stars.
