Reddit is not often the platform most mentioned when it comes to user experience design or intuitive functionality. This can be explained by the success of numerous third-party applications like Apollo, which allowed it to thrive before Reddit itself changed the rules, causing these applications to disappear. However, after approximately two years, Reddit is taking necessary corrective measures, even though the overall design of its platform remains the same.
Among the new features being integrated is a verification tool on the post creation page. This tool will automatically review the content of posts against community rules. In case of any discrepancies, it will notify users of the reasons why their posts are inappropriate for submission and may be removed. Additionally, Reddit will display relevant rules, such as Karma requirements or content violations, before a post goes public.
If a user has content that has been removed by moderators, they will now have the option to "Post in a different community," which will allow them to share their post in another subreddit. This is particularly helpful, as many of the most popular communities on Reddit have strict rules that restrict contributions from new users. To post original content, new users must first accumulate Karma from other users. Often, posts are immediately removed by moderators, leaving newcomers with no options, especially if they are unaware of similar communities.
To mitigate this situation, Reddit will provide a recommendation button during the post creation process, where users will be able to see a list of communities where they could share their content. These recommendations will be generated based on the content, seeking the best match for each post. Finally, an information panel will be launched where users can observe the interaction with their content, such as upvotes and shares. These new features are beginning to be implemented for Reddit users on desktop and mobile devices, while the proactive verification system will soon be launched on mobile platforms.
