The new Cadillac Escalade IQL electric will be the longest SUV in production.
It will be the longest SUV in history, regardless of whether it is gasoline or electric.
Cadillac has decided to expand its lineup of electric SUVs with the launch of the Escalade IQL, an extended version of the already well-known Escalade IQ. This new model is designed to provide more space both in the trunk and for third-row passengers, surpassing the length of the longest gasoline Escalade. Measuring 228.5 inches in length, the Escalade IQL stands as the longest SUV ever produced, exceeding the Escalade ESV by 1.5 inches.
The design of the IQL retains the boxy aesthetic of its predecessor, the IQ, but features notable differences. From the side, it is evident that the IQL incorporates a body panel that separates the rear windows, unlike the IQ, which has small windows at the back. This change allows for greater luggage capacity and optimizes interior space.
Third-row passengers will benefit from a 4-inch increase in legroom, going from 32.3 to 36.7 inches, as well as a 1-inch increase in headroom, rising from 37.2 to 38.2 inches. In terms of cargo capacity, the IQL offers 24.2 cubic feet of space behind the third row and 75.4 cubic feet with the seats folded down. In comparison, the standard IQ provides 23.7 cubic feet and 69.1 cubic feet, respectively. Additionally, it features an extra 12.2 cubic feet of space in the front "eTrunk."
The original Escalade IQ was unveiled in 2023, highlighting its innovative infotainment system with a 55-inch screen and its Android Automotive OS platform. The Escalade IQL will be equipped with a 205 kWh battery that offers the same range of 460 miles as its predecessor. It will also be able to recharge up to 116 miles in just 10 minutes using 350 kW fast chargers.
The starting price of the Escalade IQL will be $132,695, including destination charges, and its production is scheduled to begin at GM's Factory Zero plant in Detroit in mid-2025.
