The new and unique compact camera from Fujifilm leaks, promising to be the most fun of 2025.

The new 'X-Half' seems to be a little bundle of joy.

Recent leaks have begun to reveal details about Fujifilm's new compact camera, known as the 'X-Half.’ This camera, which would mark a novelty for the brand by being medium format, promises to offer a combination of digital captures and a retro design.

According to shared information, the Fujifilm X-Half is expected to have a 1-inch sensor and will position itself as a competitor to other medium format cameras that have gained popularity among young photographers in recent times. This medium format, traditionally associated with 35mm cameras, allows for vertical photographs, effectively doubling the number of images that can be obtained from a roll of film. The particular feature of the X-Half model, mentioned in the leaks, is that it would be a digital camera, which could make it more attractive compared to earlier models.

Medium format cameras are popular not only for their double exposure capability, allowing the creation of 'diptychs,' but also for their ease of composition. It has been suggested that the X-Half will have a vertical LCD screen on the back to facilitate this task.

In terms of design, the camera is expected to maintain Fujifilm's typical retro aesthetic, similar to the X100VI, combining digital convenience with the charm of film cameras. Rumors indicate that it will feature an optical viewfinder, which could help keep the cost relatively low compared to an electronic viewfinder, as well as include manual controls like an exposure compensation dial and a fixed lens with an aperture of f/2.4.

There is no confirmed release date for the X-Half yet, but it is speculated that it could be unveiled before the summer season in the United States and the United Kingdom, provided there are no tariff-related complications that delay its debut.

Although some Fujifilm fans yearn for more advanced cameras, such as the X-Pro 4, the anticipation for the X-Half suggests that the brand remains committed to its characteristic approach of innovating within the world of photography, leveraging new trends while adding its own distinctive touch.
