The Morning After: What to Expect from Apple's New Release This Week.

The main news this morning includes the passing of Viktor Antonov, art director of Half-Life 2 and Dishonored. Additionally, anyone in the United States can now purchase Nintendo products.

Last week, Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, hinted at a new product that will be unveiled on February 19, which is tomorrow. In his tweet, Cook included an animated image with the Apple logo, leading many people to assume that it would be the second generation of the AirTag. Rumors have been circulating for some time that Apple planned to launch a second-generation tracker this year, with the original AirTag released almost four years ago. This suggests that the new device could benefit from several technological updates.

It is rumored that the upcoming AirTag may feature a more tamper-resistant speaker to reduce the risk of stalking, as well as an improved Ultra-Wideband chip with a tracking range that could be up to three times longer. However, it is unlikely that the CEO of Apple would generate excitement over a simple accessory. Following a series of leaks, it seems that a next-generation iPhone SE is a more probable possibility.

This updated entry-level iPhone could feature a design similar to the iPhone 14, which would include a notch, the elimination of the home button, and a transition to a USB-C port. Additionally, it is expected to have enough power to support Apple’s various intelligence features. Historically, although SE models have had modest screens and hardware, Apple tends to equip them with chips similar to those in the latest iPhones.

There is also a potential wildcard: the rumored Apple smart device, which is expected to be launched this year. Despite everything, no Apple device shines quite like an AirTag. More information will be revealed tomorrow, hopefully along with other tech news, as it has been a rather quiet few days in terms of updates.
