The Honor MagicBook Pro 14 Surpasses the New MacBook Air in a Surprising Way.

A new laptop has hit the market. Although the Honor MagicBook Pro 14 has specifications that seem familiar, it outperforms the new MacBook Air M4 in one fundamental aspect. Here’s why.

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) is not limited to the presentation of mobile devices alone. This event encompasses the business realm of the entire consumer technology industry, where many major companies take the opportunity to unveil new products for the European and international markets. In the recent edition, MWC Barcelona 2025, there was a noticeable return to normalcy, with more mobile device launches than in previous years. However, one of the devices that caught my attention was the Honor MagicBook Pro 14.

This laptop stands out for offering great performance at an accessible price, along with a remarkably unique color palette. Below are the key features, color, and what makes it different from Apple’s new MacBook Air.

The Honor MagicBook Pro 14 is priced at around $800, which includes several customizable options. Users can choose between two processors, the Intel Core Ultra 5 225H or the Core Ultra 9 285H, and it offers up to 1TB of storage. Its RAM varies between 16, 24, or 32GB, depending on the selected processor, and it weighs less than 3 pounds. In terms of the display, it features a 14.6-inch OLED screen, available in both touch and non-touch versions, with excellent color accuracy covering the DCI-P3 color space, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and a maximum brightness of 700 nits.

Regarding connectivity, it includes two USB 3.2 Type-C ports and two USB-A ports. The USB-C ports allow data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s and can also charge the device, all located on the left side along with the headphone jack and HDMI 2.1 port. On the opposite side, the USB-C ports offer data speeds of 5 Gbit/s. It also features a Full HD quality webcam, a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button, two speakers, and three microphones, all powered by a 92Wh battery that promises up to 12 hours of battery life, although it won’t match the new MacBook Air's 18 hours.

Although the Honor MagicBook Pro 14 is not the thinnest or lightest on the market, it stands out with a distinctive appearance. Unlike most tech devices that tend to have standard and boring colors, Apple made an attempt at color by introducing the new MacBook Air in an appealing sky blue, although it remains a version of a conventional shade. Honor, on the other hand, has launched the MagicBook Pro 14 in a beautiful light green color that stands out among the competition. While there have been versions of laptops in green, they are generally darker tones, making this color choice truly unique. Additionally, there is also a version in shiny white, which is less eye-catching.

Apple's recent decision to replace space gray with sky blue surprised many, considering that their iMacs offer a vibrant range of colors ideal for a home environment. However, in the world of laptops, the brand hasn’t ventured much with other unconventional colors. Although the new sky blue is impressive, it doesn’t compare to an addition of shades like yellow, purple, or pink to the MacBook Air lineup. It is expected that Apple will explore more colorful options in the future, but for now, the Honor MagicBook Pro 14 remains one of the most distinctive color choices in the laptop market, encouraging other brands to diversify their color options, as many laptops tend to be quite homogeneous.
