The company suspends the sale of some of its more affordable laptops due to the tariffs imposed by Trump.
Framework is the latest company to announce changes to its plans.
Framework has decided to "temporarily pause" the sales of certain models of its laptops in the United States, as a consequence of the tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, which took effect on April 5. The company has communicated through its social media that the affected units include "some base systems of the Framework Laptop 13 (Ultra 5 125H and Ryzen 5 7640U)," and they have been removed from its website "for now."
In an additional message, Framework explained that the prices of its laptops were set when tariffs on imports from Taiwan were at 0%. "With a 10% tariff, we would have to sell the most basic models at a loss," the company argued. Other consumer goods manufacturers have also faced similar situations, although many have not been as transparent about it.
Trump's tariffs have already affected numerous products from different companies; for example, Nintendo postponed pre-orders of the Switch 2 in the United States due to tariff-related concerns, and Jaguar Land Rover suspended its shipments to the U.S. in April while it reviews its plans.
