From The Witcher IV to Project Century and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, here are some of the must-see trailers from The Game Awards 2024 event.

On Thursday night, The Game Awards 2024 took place, an event full of surprises and entertainment. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, the show brought together prominent video game developers and publishers, who took the opportunity to announce their new projects. Throughout the ceremony, numerous impactful trailers were showcased, ranging from purely cinematic projections to those that, after an impressive introduction, moved on to display gameplay.

For those who couldn’t follow the event live, here are seven standout trailers you shouldn’t miss, listed in the order of their appearance.

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound kicked off the event with a bang. This 2D revival of the iconic Koei Tecmo saga was accompanied by a fast-paced trailer that introduced the involved studios before presenting a beautiful cinematic that recalled the original series, confirmed by the appearance of Ryu Hayabusa. The video culminated in a glimpse of the gameplay and a release date set for the summer of 2025.

Next up in the main segment of the event was The Witcher IV, presented by CD Projekt Red. This stunning production animated by Platige Image resembles a short film and tells the story of Ciri, who attempts to save a young girl condemned by her village. The revelation of Ciri as the protagonist was one of the most applauded moments of the night, leaving everyone intrigued by its shocking conclusion. Despite the critical reception of Cyberpunk 2077, the teaser sparked renewed interest in CD Projekt Red’s upcoming project.

The most enigmatic trailer of the night belongs to a new untitled game from the renowned Fumito Ueda, known for works like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. After several years of development following The Last Guardian, a preview was finally presented that shows a character climbing a colossus while a haunting countdown reverberates. This teaser suggests we may be facing another masterpiece.

On the other hand, Project Century surprised with an unconventional aesthetic for the studio’s games, set in Japan in 1915 with classical music and scenes from everyday life. As the trailer progresses, melee combat is introduced with a slower and more brutal pace compared to other titles from the studio. This revelation left many eager to learn more.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword also captured attention. A trailer that builds intrigue, gradually revealing the connection to the series, culminated in the confirmation that this is a new Onimusha title. Although the teaser doesn’t hold the same level of secrecy as others, the stunning cinematics and visceral gameplay make it worthy of attention.

Stage Fright presented a meta-narrative approach as a new cooperative game from the creators of Overcooked. The trailer features characters commenting on the beginning of it, before being interrupted by monstrous creatures, leading them into a chilling world and showing how they will need to collaborate in cooperative mode.

Finally, the trailer for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet stood out, closing the event with an extensive cinematic that introduces the audience to its science fiction world and the protagonist, Jordan A. Mun. The revelation that Naughty Dog is behind this project heightened interest in the game, inviting viewers to look back for details and easter eggs, marking a powerful conclusion to the ceremony.
