Taylor Sheridan's supremacy continues on Paramount+ with the renewal of Landman for its second season.

More territory, more inhabitants.

The popular Paramount+ program, "Landman," has been renewed for a second season. This project by Taylor Sheridan has set a record as the most-watched premiere and finale globally in the platform's history. The series, starring Billy Bob Thornton, chronicles the oil boom in Texas during the 21st century, specifically in the Permian Basin.

Sheridan's continued presence on Paramount+ is assured with this renewal, as "Landman" has become another significant success within the American rural drama that the creator has fostered. In fact, it has broken records on one of the most prominent streaming services. Reportedly, "Landman" has recorded the most-watched debut and finale globally of any series in Paramount+'s history, reflecting Sheridan's ability to create compelling television. His previous work includes hits like "Yellowstone," "Tulsa King," and "Special Ops: Lioness."

Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks, commented on the show's impact: "Landman was one of the standout programs of the year thanks to Taylor Sheridan's unique ability to connect with the cultural zeitgeist, encompassing neo-western themes of individualism, ambition, and working-class issues amid contemporary debates about energy, climate change, and economic growth."

The series has contributed to Paramount+ positioning itself as the second in on-demand subscription services in the United States in terms of hours of original content viewed in the fourth quarter, alongside other hits like "Tulsa King," "The Agency," "Lioness," and "Dexter: Original Sin."

"Landman" is an explosive melodrama based on the podcast "Boomtown," hosted by co-creator Christian Wallace, which addresses the Texas oil boom of the 21st century. In the series, Thornton plays Tommy Norris, in charge of an oil drilling operation, a role that earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series.

The official synopsis of "Landman" describes the plot as a contemporary tale of fortune-seeking within the oil platform sector. Based on the acclaimed 11-part podcast "Boomtown," the series presents a narrative of the inequalities between workers and millionaires fueling such a boom that is transforming climate, economy, and geopolitics.

The cast of "Landman" also includes recognized figures like Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Michael Peña, Andy García, and Ali Larter, enriching this drama by Sheridan and solidifying his legacy in the neo-western genre.
