Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds revealed a wealth of new details and will hold a closed network test this month.

It looks very good as well.

Sega has shared new information about its upcoming racing game, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, through a recent trailer presented during the PlayStation State of Play event. This title was announced in more detail on February 12, after being teased at The Game Awards 2024.

The trailer reveals several race tracks inspired by locations from previous games, such as Dinosaur Jungle from Sonic and the Secret Rings and Metal Harbor from Sonic Adventure 2. One of the most exciting new features is the return of Extreme Gear, which can be used as a vehicle in the game, a hallmark feature of Sonic Riders.

An update on the official Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds website has added even more details. It has been confirmed that vehicles can transform between land, sea, and air, evoking the gameplay of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed. Additionally, the tracks appear to be highly dynamic. Leaders in the race will be able to choose between two Travel Rings at the start of the second lap, allowing them to be transported to one of the crossover worlds. There is also an option called 'Frenzy Gate', which seems to take players to a random location.

Regarding customization, cars will be able to be modified both in appearance and abilities, allowing players to develop a unique style. An interesting detail is that characters will not be limited to specific vehicles; they will be able to compete with any type of car, which marks a novelty within the Sonic Racing series.

For those eager to experience Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, a closed online beta will take place on February 21, with sign-ups opening on the 18th of the same month. This test will allow players to race online on various tracks with playable characters including Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, Cream, Eggman, Omega, and Zazz. The trailer also shows other characters that will appear in the game, such as Sage, Jet the Hawk, Silver, Vector, and Charmy.

Another important consideration is that the official PlayStation blog mentions that "iconic characters from the Sonic and Sega universes" will be present in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. This suggests the possibility of seeing characters from franchises like Super Monkey Ball, Samba de Amigo, and maybe Nights, similar to previous Sonic Racing titles.
