Q Acoustics' new subwoofers promise to enhance the home cinema experience, especially for those who want to enjoy movie nights with Oscar winners and nominees. These devices are designed to deliver deeper sound, enhancing the impact of films, whether during intense scenes or in their entirety.

Q Acoustics has launched a range consisting of three subwoofer models: the 8-inch Q SUB80, the 10-inch Q SUB100, and the 12-inch Q SUB120. All are designed to complement the brand's speakers but are also compatible with existing 7.2, 5.1, or 2.1 systems.

These active subwoofers feature digital signal processing and an adjustable low-pass filter. The DSP enables a more versatile installation, facilitating adjustments in delay and phase inversion to align the arrival of sound. According to Q Acoustics, this allows for easy installation without the need for a professional technician.

The low-pass filter allows adjustment of the frequency between 40Hz and 250Hz, ensuring good integration with the speakers they are paired with. Additionally, the subwoofer has a source detection system that can identify whether the input signal is stereo or mono and adjust the sound gain accordingly.

Regarding amplification, the subwoofers use a custom-designed model that includes DSP, a power amplifier, and a power supply. This system features four stages of digital amplification in a parallel bridged load configuration, minimizing output impedance and improving heat dissipation. The 12-inch model can deliver up to 300W of continuous power and 600W of peak power, while the 8-inch offers 200W/400W and the 10-inch, 250W/500W. Harmonic distortion remains below 0.1% THD up to 300W.
