Producer of Monster Hunter Wilds Talks About the Possibility of a Switch 2 Port: 'We Would Need Time to Understand the Exact Nature of the Hardware'

Don't expect a port in the short term.

Ryozo Tsujimoto, senior producer of Monster Hunter Wilds, commented on the possibility of a port for the Nintendo Switch 2 in a recent interview. While he cannot provide concrete details on the topic, he does not rule out the option either. Tsujimoto mentioned that "we would need to take our time to understand the exact nature of the hardware" before making any decisions.

The Monster Hunter franchise has historically been associated with Nintendo, leading many fans to wonder if the upcoming installment, Monster Hunter Wilds, will be available for the new console. Tsujimoto started the conversation by saying that "we have nothing additional to announce beyond what is already available."

It is likely that the team is focused on the game's release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC, set for February 28, which suggests that there is currently no port for the Nintendo Switch 2 in development. However, while there are no immediate plans, Tsujimoto does not close the door on this possibility, which will largely depend on the specifications of the new system and its ability to handle such an extensive open-world game.

For now, fans will have to wait for more updates on the matter.
