Prime Video presents a new trailer for its television remake of Cruel Intentions and the first images from the second season of The Rig, but neither excites me.
I do not intend to manipulate these shows on Prime Video.
Amazon has revealed the advancements of two original television shows that will soon be coming to Prime Video. The first is a remake of the 1999 teen drama film "Cruel Intentions." The trailer released on October 24 has failed to convince many of its quality, despite its modern and stylish aesthetic, which could attract those who haven't seen the original film. This new version consists of eight episodes aimed at exploring more deeply the dark, comedic, and erotic narrative, as well as the moral complexity of its characters. However, the trailer does not provide elements that suggest this adaptation could match or surpass the original film. Some fear that "Cruel Intentions" will follow the path of other poorly received adaptations, such as "I Know What You Did Last Summer" in 2021. The series is scheduled to premiere on November 21 and will be set in the elitist Manchester College, where two cruel half-siblings, Caroline Merteuil and Lucien Belmont, vie to maintain their social standing following a hazing incident that threatens their reputation.
On the other hand, Amazon has also shared images from the second season of "The Rig," a supernatural thriller. This new installment, consisting of six episodes, will be released on the platform in January 2025. This season addresses the emotional and physical consequences following a tsunami that destroyed the Kinloch Bravo platform, and the new challenges faced by survivors in a mysterious research center in the Arctic. Throughout this series, relevant global issues will be explored in spectacular settings, touching on sensitive topics such as deep-sea mining. Despite the renewed arrival of "The Rig" and Amazon's intention to support successful series, its first season received mixed reviews and did not fully capture the attention of some viewers.
