PlayStation Network is back online after nearly 24 hours of downtime.

After nearly 24 hours of inactivity, the PlayStation network is back up and running for most users. Sony is offering five free days to its subscribers.

After an interruption that began on Friday night, the PlayStation Network service resumed operation on Saturday afternoon. This downtime, which lasted over 20 hours, ranks among the longest in the service's history. Despite the PlayStation status page indicating normal operations, several hours passed before all services were restored.

Around midnight on February 9, Ask PlayStation announced on social media that all services had been restored. Additionally, it was reported that PlayStation Plus members would automatically receive five extra days of service as compensation. The company apologized for the inconveniences caused and thanked the community for their patience.

The reason for the interruption remains unclear, as it was simply labeled as an “operational issue.” Many complaints arose on social media from players expressing their frustration not only over the service outage but also over the lack of communication and the compensation offered. For many, five days of free service does not make up for the lost gaming time over the weekend.

One point that has generated criticism is that the five additional days are only offered to active PlayStation Network subscribers, even though non-subscribers were also affected. Some users suggested that a more adequate compensation could be a month of free service or the offer of a game for free.

Even after services were restored, reports of issues persisted on tracking platforms, suggesting that some problems have not yet been fully resolved. The community has generally criticized Sony for its lack of transparency, as the company has remained silent regarding the cause of the problem. One player expressed emphatically that the lack of communication was more frustrating than the problem itself.
