Owners of the OnePlus Watch 3 in the U.S. do not have access to important health and fitness features.

Owners of the OnePlus Watch 3 in the United States will not receive some important features in the short term.

The new OnePlus Watch 3 presents attractive features; however, users in the United States will not have access to all of them. One of the highlights is the absence of ECG (electrocardiogram) support due to not receiving FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approval. This lack of certification directly impacts the "60-Second Health Check" feature, which will also be unavailable.

In the preliminary review of the OnePlus Watch 3, it was mentioned that it could be one of the best smartwatches of the year. However, if you reside in the U.S. or Canada, it is important to note that key features will be missing. FDA certification is regarded as the highest standard for health functions in a smartwatch. Devices like the Apple Watch, which include FDA-approved features, can provide notifications for irregular heart rhythms and are used in studies and medical facilities.

According to a statement from OnePlus, “the OnePlus Watch 3 did not receive official FDA certification for its ECG capabilities, so the ECG Analyzer feature will not be available for users in the United States or Canada." The 60-second health check feature is one of the most anticipated, as it includes multiple simultaneous measurements, including ECG. The lack of this feature means that two of the main characteristics of the new range will not be available at launch.

Such situations are not new when launching devices. Even Apple has faced similar issues; its blood oxygen monitoring technology had to be removed due to patent infringements, and it remains to be seen when it can be reactivated. OnePlus may receive FDA approval in the future, but for now, it's a detail to consider.
