Opinion: I Tried the NEC MultiSync E274FL.
A 27-inch monitor with a 1080p resolution, offering wired connectivity and featuring a high-quality panel, is a versatile choice.
The NEC MultiSync E274FL monitor, designed for the business environment, has generated expectations due to its combination of competitive pricing, USB-C connectivity, and integrated wired network. Since its installation, it stands out for offering exceptional white tones, a feature valued by office workers, alongside a wide color gamut.
Testing revealed that the monitor covers 95% of the sRGB spectrum, with an average Delta-E of 1.08 and a maximum of 3.03. While its DCI-P3 coverage of 75% and Adobe RGB coverage of 70% may not impress movie lovers or graphic designers, the results are solid within its category. The measured contrast of 3,493:1 confirms that this is an MVA panel, commonly used in curved displays and gaming monitors, rather than those aimed at the corporate market. This approach indicates significant technological advancements by Sharp, the panel manufacturer.
In terms of performance, the E274FL features a refresh rate of 60Hz and a response time of 6ms, which are standard in the category. While this may disappoint users seeking advantages for late-night gaming sessions, IT departments, on the other hand, will find it gratifying that the RJ-45 port offers secure access to the office network and allows for asset tracking without the need for physical contact with the device.
The on-screen display (OSD) is navigated with a joystick that, although slightly different from the norm, responds quickly to user commands. Ergonomically, this monitor meets all standards, additionally offering a low blue light mode and notable adjustment flexibility, allowing for a height elevation of up to 120mm, rotation of 170° in both directions, and a pivoting function.
When connected via USB-C, the monitor provides up to 60W of power to laptops, which is sufficient for many devices, although the specification could have been improved to 100W to meet greater needs. It also includes three USB-A ports and one USB-B port for sharing peripherals between different devices.
The E274FL comes with 1W speakers, which are suitable for casual videos and video calls. However, it is important to consider that this panel has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 on a diagonal of 27 inches, which may result in text that is not as sharp. While this may not significantly affect productivity, younger workers accustomed to higher-definition screens may not be as satisfied.
Finally, although the E274FL was not present in our group test on time, its quality and connectivity make it a highly competitive monitor in its price range, in addition to having a three-year warranty that covers backlight failures.
