Recently, OpenAI introduced its new reasoning model, called o3-mini. According to the company, this model provides "more accurate and clearer answers, with enhanced reasoning abilities" compared to its predecessor, and is capable of "working with searches to find updated answers with links to relevant sources on the web." CEO Sam Altman and other members of the OpenAI team held a Q&A session on Reddit on Friday to discuss this release. Additionally, a week ago, OpenAI launched its new tool Operator, a "Computational Use Agent" that can "browse the web to perform tasks on your behalf."
Meanwhile, DeepSeek, a Chinese AI assistant application that was launched in late January, has seen a sudden surge in popularity in app stores last week. Following this initial phenomenon, a report from the Wall Street Journal indicated that OpenAI is investigating whether its models were used to train DeepSeek.
