Onimusha: Way of the Sword Reveals Its Release Window, Trailers, and More Details.

Sharpen your katana and prepare your Oni Gauntlet, as Onimusha returns with Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Here’s everything we know about this new samurai game.

Capcom has announced that Onimusha: Way of the Sword is scheduled for release in 2026. Although a specific date has not yet been confirmed, fans of this classic PS2 saga are certainly excited about the prospect of playing it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The first trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword was unveiled during The Game Awards 2024. This brief preview showcased the return of the Oni Gauntlet, now in the hands of a new protagonist. The story will take place in Kyoto during the Edo period, where an evil force known as Malice will allow the feared Genma to invade the city. The protagonist, whose motivation for entering combat remains a mystery, is the little that has been revealed about the narrative.

In terms of gameplay, the most significant novelty is the absence of a fixed camera, setting it apart from previous entries that adopted a similar approach to Resident Evil. The new experience will be entirely 3D and will focus more on action. Not many weapon options have been shown yet, except for the traditional sword that has characterized the series.

Since 2026 is relatively far away and no specific day has been confirmed, reservations for Onimusha: Way of the Sword are not possible at this time. Interested players can add the game to their wish list and stay updated as more information is shared.
