Nintendo opens applications to participate in a mysterious game test on Switch Online.
Only Switch Online members with the expansion pack can participate.
Nintendo has opened a application period to participate in a playtest for a new feature of Nintendo Switch Online, although the company has not provided details about what exactly this feature will entail. Given that the company has just launched a gesture-controlled alarm clock, the possibilities are broad, including a potential preview of features related to the anticipated Switch 2.
Speculation among contributors has varied from the addition of GameCube games to Switch Online, to a preview of a mini retro console of the Wii, or even the possibility of a Star Fox game, which hasn't been mentioned in years.
Applications will be open from October 10 at 11 AM ET until October 15 at 10:59 AM ET. Interested individuals can access the application page through a provided link. According to the company, participants outside Japan will be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis, while participants within Japan will be selected via a lottery if there are a high number of applications.
To be eligible, applicants must meet certain requirements announced on October 9 at 6 PM ET, when this playtest was revealed:
- Have a Nintendo account
- Be an active member of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be registered in one of the following countries: Japan, USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain
Nintendo expects to accept up to 10,000 participants for this playtest, which will also close early if the registration limit is reached. Those selected will need to download "exclusive software" on their Switch to participate. The playtest will take place from October 23 at 9 PM ET until November 5 at 7:59 PM ET.
