New Eufy Security Camera at $70 Records Color Images in the Dark.

Stay alert to what happens inside your home.

Eufy has introduced its new security camera, the Indoor Cam E30. This device improves upon a previous model launched in 2020, incorporating 4K recording capabilities and an additional spotlight that allows for color image capture in addition to the usual night vision options. It is currently available for $69.99.

The Indoor Cam E30 can rotate 360 degrees horizontally and tilt 75 degrees vertically, enabling it to monitor an entire room. It uses integrated artificial intelligence to detect the presence of people and pets and can also recognize and notify specific sounds, such as a baby crying. Additionally, the camera can automatically track moving subjects to keep them in frame. Its position can also be adjusted manually, although this option is only available through the Eufy mobile app and is not compatible with Apple Home.

The device is compatible with HomeKit, including Apple’s HomeKit Secure Video, allowing recordings to be stored in iCloud. However, this requires a subscription to iCloud Plus and limits the streaming resolution to 1080P. For those who prefer not to use subscriptions, the Indoor Cam E30 includes a microSD card slot that enables local image storage, which can be streamed to the Eufy mobile app in 4K quality. If more storage is needed, the camera can be connected to Eufy's HomeBase S380, which costs $149.99 and allows for expansions of up to 16TB. Eufy has stated that it has addressed the privacy issues identified in 2022.

The camera also offers two-way audio, facilitating remote communication, which can be useful, for example, to tell a pet to get off the couch while at work. Although the additional spotlight allows the Indoor Cam E30 to capture color night images, visibility in darkness is limited to 16.4 feet. In contrast, when using infrared lights, the camera can see in black and white, extending its visual range to just over 32 feet.
