My Hero Academia: Vigilantes arrives on Crunchyroll in April.

The new episodes of the My Hero Academia prequel series will air the same day they are released in Japan.

Despite the fact that the main My Hero Academia series will conclude later this year, its prequel is about to premiere on Crunchyroll. The platform has announced that it has acquired the exclusive global streaming rights (outside of Asia) for My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, directed by Kenichi Suzuki, known for his work on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders.

Vigilantes will begin airing on April 7, with new episodes released weekly, synced with their premiere on Japanese television. Asa Suehira, Crunchyroll's content director, stated that this new series will offer My Hero Academia fans "an exciting new perspective on the world they love." He also mentioned that they are thrilled to continue their collaboration with Toho to bring this highly anticipated spin-off to audiences worldwide.

Set five years before the main storyline, Vigilantes tells the story of Koichi Haimawari, a college student who has given up on his dream of becoming a professional superhero. Despite not holding a professional hero license, Koichi is aware that his quirk—which allows him to slide frictionlessly—can be used to protect others. While Koichi has a knack for helping people with simple tasks, everything changes when he and Kazuho Haneyama, a girl with the ability to jump great distances, are attacked by individuals with powerful quirks. It is thanks to the intervention of the quirkless vigilante, Knuckleduster, that they manage to escape with their lives.

The new trailer for the series not only teases the formation of an unconventional team of heroes (outside the law) but also showcases how studio Bones has managed to capture the kinetic action of the original manga. The series features impressive visuals and promises a more serious return to this universe, which is sure to resonate with My Hero Academia fans when it premieres next month.
