It is rumored that the Galaxy S25 'Slim' will headline a competition of thin phones next year.
The new Galaxy could be released next spring.
Samsung appears to be developing a model known as the "Galaxy S25 Slim," similar to the speculation surrounding the iPhone 17 "Slim" expected to launch in 2025 to replace the iPhone Plus. The news was initially disclosed by a media outlet in South Korea, suggesting that the brand could unveil this new slim smartphone between April and June 2025, shortly after the launch of the rest of the Galaxy S25 series.
Recently, Smartprix revealed the existence of an entry in the GSMA IMEI database for a phone under the trade name "Galaxy" with the model number SM-S937U. According to this source, Samsung typically adds its devices in testing phases to this database months in advance of their release, indicating that this model may be in development for launch in six or seven months. The model number is consistent with others that belong to the usual Galaxy series, such as the standard, Plus, and Ultra models. No further details about the device are known, except that the letter U suggests it will be launched in the U.S. market.
In contrast, Apple's "Slim" model may arrive in the third quarter and is reportedly priced higher than the current iPhone Pro Max, featuring a 6.6-inch display and a single rear camera. For the Galaxy S25 Slim, Samsung may need to make adjustments to some components to accommodate a different design, which could result in a reduction of features related to the processor, display, battery, and cameras.
If the artificial intelligence features in the Galaxy S24 and iPhone 16 weren't enough to convince users to upgrade their devices, it remains to be seen whether a slimmer smartphone will capture their attention next year.
