It is expected that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 will feature One UI 8 built-in.
Software and hardware updates.
Samsung has unveiled its new devices, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6, both equipped with One UI 6. However, talk of One UI 8, an update based on Android 16, is already underway, which may be released earlier than expected. This new version of the user interface is anticipated to be available on the company's upcoming foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7, expected to launch in July.
Currently, One UI 7 (based on Android 15) is being widely implemented following its initial launch on the Galaxy S25 devices in January. Despite this version being rolled out, it appears that One UI 8 is progressing rapidly in its development, thanks to its alignment with the expected release timeline for Android 16. Google plans to launch this major software update in June, allowing Samsung to conduct beta testing for several months.
So far, little is known about the features that One UI 8 will bring, but it is expected to follow the improvements introduced by Android 16. This new operating system promises to optimize support for desktop mode, enhance health-related functionalities, and include features to protect devices against theft.
Regarding Samsung's new models, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to be thinner than its predecessor and introduce performance enhancements, as well as possibly better cameras. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 may feature a full-sized exterior display for the first time, although its overall design may remain similar to previous versions, as well as the RAM and storage options. Both devices are promised to have longer-lasting batteries thanks to more efficient displays.
Additionally, rumors are circulating about the potential arrival of a Galaxy Z Flip SE and a tri-fold foldable model, which could be launched simultaneously with the other phones and the One UI 8 update.
