"Is Your Apple Watch Speaker Not Working? Here's What to Do, According to Apple."
Apple has released a useful support document.
Apple has released a support document providing instructions for Apple Watch users to troubleshoot speaker-related issues, in response to an increase in complaints regarding the Series 10 model. While the company has not officially acknowledged these problems, the document, released on February 13, includes recommendations for users experiencing microphone or speaker malfunctions, as well as cases where sound is heard distorted, muted, or intermittent.
Among the suggestions Apple provides are classic troubleshooting steps, including updating software and cleaning the device. The company advises users to start by ensuring that the software on both their iPhone and Apple Watch is up to date, as many times these issues are resolved with the latest updates.
Next, it is recommended to clean the Apple Watch, paying special attention to the microphone and speakers to remove any obstructions. Since Apple Watches are water-resistant, they can be rinsed under lukewarm running water for cleaning. It is suggested to use a soft-bristled brush for the speakers, avoiding liquid cleaners, aerosols, or abrasive products.
Apple also emphasizes the importance of checking for water in the device, as this can affect speaker performance. They recommend placing the watch face down on a microfiber cloth and, if water is found, drying it with the same cloth, avoiding the use of heat, compressed air, or aerosols. A helpful tip is to charge the watch overnight to speed up the evaporation of the water.
In addition to the above actions, the possibility of restarting the device, unpairing it, and re-pairing it with the iPhone is mentioned. Finally, Apple suggests checking that the Silent mode, Do Not Disturb, and sound settings on the watch are not accidentally activated.
Since these issues have emerged, several users of the Series 10 have confirmed the existence of malfunctions. While the problem is not exclusive to this model, it occurs more frequently in the Series 10, which stands out as the first Apple Watch to offer audio playback through its speakers.
If problems persist after following all these recommendations, users are advised to contact Apple support or visit a local brand store.
