How to Watch the Frost Fatales Speedrunning Event by Games Done Quick Starting March 9.
The week of celebrations begins on Sunday, March 9th, kicking off with simple games, starting with a speedrun of the challenging Cuphead.
This weekend will mark the start of a new edition of the charity speedrunning event by Games Done Quick. Frost Fatales, one of the two events celebrating women and non-binary individuals, will take place from March 9 to 16 and aims to raise funds for the National Women's Law Center.
Frost Fatales represents the winter version of these community-organized speedrunning events by Frame Fatales of GDQ, with Flame Fatales being its summer counterpart. In last year's edition, Frost Fatales raised $155,000 for the same organization, which advocates for gender justice on crucial issues affecting women and girls. Since its first edition in 2019, Frame Fatales events have raised over a million dollars for various charitable causes.
This edition’s schedule will kick off with an exciting speedrun of Cuphead at 1 PM ET on Sunday, followed by Super Mario Odyssey an hour later. Anyone who manages to complete Cuphead in that time will earn a Medal of Honor. Highlighted runs throughout the week include the original Legend of Zelda on Sunday, the Punch-Out!! reboot for Wii on Monday, a "female squad" run of Final Fantasy X-2 on Wednesday, and a competition to defeat Ganon in Breath of the Wild on Saturday. The event will culminate with a one-handed speedrun of the classic indie platformer Celeste later that night.
The full game schedule will be available for reference on the GDQ site, and the event will be streamed exclusively on their Twitch channel, starting with the unmissable Cuphead run on Sunday at 1 PM ET.
