Guide to Changing Abilities in Avowed

There are various ways to develop your character and equipment in Avowed, and you might decide to experiment with something different at some point. Here we explain how you can change your skills.

Avowed presents itself as a very versatile game, allowing players to choose any weapon or piece of armor they desire. Having a wide variety of attack options is one of the most useful recommendations. However, the skills aspect offers a slightly different experience. Players will invest points in their stats to unlock capabilities and companion skills by accumulating XP and leveling up. These skills completely impact the gameplay style, both in combat and outside of it, and players are not required to follow the same initial direction if they are not satisfied with their choice.

To reset your character's skills in Avowed, follow these steps:

  1. Pause the game and access the Character or Skills tab.
  2. If you want to refund your character points, which determine your stats and dialogue options, hold Y on the controller or press R on PC. This will cost you 100 gold to reset any points already spent.
  3. To readjust skills, go to the Skills tab and use the same button. Note that it is not possible to reset just one skill tree; when you reset skill points, all skill trees will be reset.
  4. Finally, you can go to the Companions tab within the Skills menu to reset each companion's skills individually.

The initial cost to reset skills is 100 gold, though this price increases as you reach higher levels. However, this cost never poses a significant obstacle, although it is important to remember that you will not be able to do it as frequently as you progress in the game.

Avowed, while reminiscent of Skyrim, presents differences that require a renewed approach from the player. It is essential not to focus on just one type of weapon, as the game does not impose any specific class that limits what your character can equip. You will still be able to improve your character in certain aspects, but you will have the freedom to choose any weapon or armor you desire.
