Garmin Tactix 8 Launches and Could Be the Brand's Most Impressive Device Yet.
Including an ultra-lightweight solver for applied ballistics.
Garmin has unveiled its new tactix 8 smartwatch, which is available in two sizes: 47 mm and 51 mm. This device stands out for its AMOLED display and solar options, along with an applied ballistic solver. The tactix series is designed with multiple features inspired by the military, combining standard technology for tracking physical activities with exceptional durability and tactical functions such as rucking.
One of the most notable features of the tactix 8 is its ballistic solver, which provides detailed information for rifle usage. This system offers personalized aiming solutions for long-range shots, taking into account the characteristics of the rifle, the type of projectile, and environmental conditions. Essentially, it serves as a tool similar to a golf watch, but geared towards firearm users.
The tactix 8 is built to military standards, incorporating an advanced GPS system, a 1.4-inch AMOLED display, a titanium bezel, and a sapphire crystal. The device has undergone rigorous testing to ensure its resistance to water, impacts, and extreme temperatures. Among its dedicated features are specific modes for tactical activities, waypoint projection, dual-format GPS, stealth mode, a safety switch, night vision compatibility, and the option for rucking.
This smartwatch is presented as an ideal choice for users with a military mindset, seeking the most robust watch on the market. Additionally, it features a technology called SatIQ, a 3-axis compass, support for amateur diving, and an integrated flashlight. It also includes a database of 43,000 golf courses for those moments of rest between intense activities, as well as Garmin’s well-known health and fitness tracking functions.
The price of the Garmin tactix 8 is $1,299.99 for the 47 mm version or $1,399 for the 51 mm variant. The solar version of the 51 mm also has the same cost, while the solar option with the Elite ballistic solver is offered for $1,599. In the UK market, its starting price is £1,189, and in Australia, it is AU$2,299. Pre-orders will begin on February 21.
