Do you have IKEA smart lights? Now you can control them directly from your Apple Watch.
Adjust the brightness, modify the colors, and choose scenes.
IKEA has launched a version of its smart home app designed for the Apple Watch. Although the app has not been officially announced, it is already available on the App Store and allows users to control IKEA's smart lights from their wrist.
According to reports, while the change log for the IKEA Home Smart app does not mention the new watchOS app, screenshots have been shared indicating that the app will allow users to turn smart lights on and off, adjust brightness, select lighting scenes, and choose custom colors from a palette.
The IKEA Home Smart app, which is available for iPad, iPhone, and Android, also provides control over other devices such as smart speakers, blinds, and air purifiers. However, the screenshots of the Apple Watch version only show options related to smart lights, suggesting that more devices may be added in future updates.
To use the new app, watchOS 10.6 or higher is required, as well as an IKEA Dirigera hub, which facilitates the connection between the brand's devices and acts as a Matter bridge.
While initially only IKEA's smart lights will be controllable from the Apple Watch, there is a possibility that other devices will be included in later updates. For those who do not own IKEA lights, the app also allows control of any light bulb or lamp compatible with Apple HomeKit, making it easy to turn lights on and off, dim them, and change their colors.
Other brands, such as Govee, also offer excellent smart lighting solutions. Their Govee Home app for Apple Watch allows users to control lights and check the status of other devices such as smart thermostats. Although Philips Hue no longer has an official app for the Apple Watch, users can still manage their lights through Apple HomeKit or third-party apps.
