The smart lights from Ikea can now adjust automatically throughout the day.
Ikea introduces an adaptable lighting system.
Ikea has launched an update for its Ikea Home mobile app, incorporating a new dynamic lighting feature that will allow its smart lights to automatically adjust the color temperature and brightness throughout the day. This feature is comparable to the natural light scene that Philips Hue introduced at the end of 2022 and has been designed to provide warmer lighting in the mornings and evenings, while offering cooler tones during the day.
The update has been included in the release notes of the recent update for the iOS version of the Ikea Home app, where it is described as a way to "keep your home in balance," thereby benefiting the mind, body, and soul. On the other hand, although the Android version also received an update, the new adaptive lighting feature was not mentioned; only bug fixes and minor improvements were reported.
Since this feature is closely tied to the Ikea Home app, it is only compatible with lighting products that connect to the Dirigera smart home hub, which is Matter-compatible and was launched in the second half of 2022. This includes products like the Symfonisk speaker lamp, which is compatible with Sonos. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether the feature will work with third-party smart lights via Matter, and efforts have been made to contact Ikea to verify compatibility with the Adaptive Lighting feature of Apple’s Home app.
